RRSP Contribution Room Calculator
Work out your RRSP deduction limit, including the carry-forward most people forget.
Why this is worth checking
RRSP room is 18% of last year’s earned income up to the CRA’s annual cap, plus every dollar of unused room carried forward from previous years. The carry-forward is the part people leave on the table: unused room never expires, so someone who has contributed little for a decade may have far more room than one year’s income suggests.
A pension adjustment reduces it. If you have a workplace pension, your room is cut by the value of the benefit you earned that year.
How this calculator works
This works from your earned income and the CRA’s annual maximums. Enter last year’s earned income, any carry-forward from your notice of assessment, and your pension adjustment if you have one.
Your notice of assessment is the authoritative figure and already accounts for all of it. Use this to plan before you have one, or to sanity-check what you are about to contribute.
